Former three division world champion James Toney is no fan of United States President Donald Trump.

Toney, 49 years old, was in the ring back in May when he knocked out Mike Sheppard in a heavyweight contest. The win raised his record to 77 victories, 10 defeats, 3 draws and 47 wins by knockout.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Toney tackled a number of topics – including his opinions on Trump.

According to Toney, he had a near physical altercation with Trump many years ago.

It was in December 1992, at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Toney and Roy Jones Jr. were both on the card in a televised doubleheader. Toney – then 32-0 – took out Doug Dewitt in six rounds and Jones – then 19-0 – took out Percy Harris in four rounds.

Toney, who was the headliner of the card, claims Trump disrespected him and it led to near brawl – with Toney attempting go after Trump and being restrained by his then manager Jackie Kallen, his mother and several others.

“He’s a f***ing assh*le. Remember when he was a promoter and he had me and Roy [Jones] on the same bill in Atlantic City. I should’ve punched him in the face but my mom and Jackie stopped me. Trump pointed to me and was saying: ‘Call Whatsisname over here.’ I’m thinking: ‘Whatsisname? I’m your headline attraction and you can’t say my name?’ I said to Trump: “I’m going to bust your head open, mother***er.’ My mom and Jackie pulled me away but I should’ve knocked his head off and saved the world lots of trouble. He’s the president but he’s a racist. Look at Colin Kaepernick,” Toney told the paper.

Kaepernick is the the former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. He’s been the subject of controversy, because he’s led a protest against racism by taking a bended knee rather than standing for the United States national anthem.

Toney believes Trump is the reason on why the player is being locked out of the NFL.

“That’s why Colin Kaepernick hasn’t got a job. Pure racism from Trump down,” Toney said.
